The Issues

As city auditor, Mark Funkhouser surveyed the people of Kansas City each year to find out how satisfied they are with the services city leaders provide. The resulting reports offer a clear picture of what Kansas Citians want:

Kansas Citians want smooth roads and sidewalks

Kansas Citians want clean, well-maintained city parks, buildings and facilities

Kansas Citians want transportation choices

Kansas Citians want prompt and effective response from police, firefighters and ambulance services in times of emergency

Kansas Citians want a modern, fully-functioning sewer and stormwater drainage system

While these are citizens' top concerns, there others as well which -- according to Kansas Citians themaselves -- the city needs to do a better job of addressing. (For full results, please read the PDF files: 2006; 2005; 2004; 2004 [by geographic area]; 2003; 2000; 2000 [survey of business people])

THESE SURVEYS WILL SERVE AS THE ROAD MAP FOR MARK FUNKHOUSER'S TENURE AS MAYOR OF KANSAS CITY.

As auditor, Mark has already begun to craft real, specific solutions to Kansas Citians' top concerns.
